Beatrix Potter: Artist, Storyteller and Countrywoman (1993 Film) This is the first documentary film about the life of the remarkable author and illustrator of THE TALE OF PETER RABBIT, and it is based on the successful biography, BEATRIX POTTER: ARTIST, STORYTELLER AND COUNTRYWOMAN by Judy Taylor. The film is full of examples of Beatrix Potter’s exquisite water colours, of rare family portraits by her father and of spectacular photographs of the countryside that Beatrix Potter loved. The Tale of Peter Rabbit (1991 Film) This animated musical is a delightful adaptation of Beatrix Potter’s world-famous children’s story The Tale of Peter Rabbit. Through wonderful animation and the talents of Carol Burnett – who narrates, sings and supplies the voices of two characters – the story of Peter’s “hare-raising” adventure in Mr. McGregor’s garden comes to life for children of all ages. The Early Life of Beatrix Potter (1990 Film) A BBC production documenting the holidays spent by the Potter family Highland Perthshire. This film appears to have been lost, but has miraculously appeared on YouTube. Starring Helena Bonham Carter, David Langston, and Angela Chadfield

The Tailor of Gloucester (1989 Film) An ill tailor is trying to finish a coat for a wealthy man. He is hindered by his cat and helped by some grateful mice. Directed and Written by John Michael Phillips, and Starring Ian Holm, Thora Hird, and Barrie Ingham

The Tailor of Gloucester (1988 Film) No thanks to his naughty cat Simpkin, the tailor of Gloucester has no more twisted silk thread to finish the coat he has promised the mayor for his wedding on Christmas Day. With the help of some special friends, the tailor finds that a kind favor is returned. A sensitive retelling and colorful music combine to beautifully evoke the period, flavor and subtle humor of this wry tale from Beatrix Potter. Told by Meryl Streep
